Preview of the Individual Data Sheet, showing the vital facts block and the date, event, locality and source table
The Individual Data Sheet. Vital facts at the top, then a running table of everything you have proved, with a source beside each line.

Once you have proved something, it should stop living in your search notes and start living here. This is the summary page for one person.

What it holds

The top block covers the vital facts: surname and given names, birth year, then birth, marriage, death, and burial — each with a date and a place. Below that are the father, mother, and spouse.

The rest of the sheet is a running table of date, event, locality, and source or comments, continuing onto a second page with room for additional notes.

The habit worth building

Never write a line on this sheet without something in the source column. A fact with no source is a rumour with a date attached, and rumours are what fill the internet with wrong family trees.
